MORE ABOUT US
Trying to Make Sense of Postpartum Shifts

You thought this season would feel different. Instead, you feel overwhelmed by pressure, intrusive thoughts, or the constant sense that you are not doing enough.

Therapy helps you slow down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and reduce the shame that often keeps people silent during postpartum adjustment.

Not Feeling Like Yourself Anymore

You are functioning, but emotionally something feels off. You may feel exhausted, withdrawn, or constantly on edge. You keep wondering whether this is normal, but you are not sure where to bring the question.

Perinatal therapy helps you reconnect with yourself without dismissing or pathologizing your experience

What This Therapy Looks Like

This is not just about managing symptoms or checking in on mood. It is about understanding how grief, fear, perfectionism, and identity shifts are showing up and learning to respond with more care and clarity.

Together, we may explore:

  • The pressure to do everything without asking for help
  • Why it feels difficult to trust others with your baby or your experience
  • The grief of what has changed, even when the change was wanted
  • Relationship dynamics under stress and how to reconnect
  • How guilt, resentment, or numbness may be protective responses

You do not have to sort this out alone or pretend you are fine because your baby is.

TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS
Mollie Bass, LMFT, PMH-C

I work with individuals and couples who are navigating the complexities of connection—the spaces between who we are, who we’ve been, and who we want to be in our relationships. My focus includes supporting individuals and couples preparing for marriage, adjusting to parenthood, navigating complex family dynamics, or finding their way back to their relationship after seasons of distance or change. I also specialize in perinatal mental health, supporting clients through postpartum depression and anxiety, fertility challenges, pregnancy and infant loss, and the shifting identity that comes with becoming a parent. A significant part of my work centers on the mental load and division of labor in relationships. I help name and rebalance the often invisible parts of relational labor—the expectations, responsibilities, and emotional energy that can leave one or both partners feeling unseen, overextended, or disconnected.

I’m a direct and grounded therapist who believes honesty and warmth can coexist. I don’t sit behind a wall—I bring transparency, humor, and reflection into the room. Together, we’ll explore what’s working, what’s not, and what needs to shift so you can move toward more connected, intentional relationships—with yourself and others.

In our work together, I bring a relational, attachment-based, and systems-oriented lens. My approach integrates Family Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy to help clients understand the patterns that keep them stuck and build new ways of relating that feel authentic and sustainable. A core element of my work is to support you in improving communication, advocating for yourself, setting boundaries, and reconnecting with core values. With couples, I combine the emotional depth of EFT with the practical, skills-based tools from the Gottman Method to strengthen communication and rebuild trust.

My credentials

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Chicago and work virtually with clients throughout Illinois. I hold a Master’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University Northwest. I’m also certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, trained in Level 2 Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and certified in Prepare/Enrich premarital counseling. I’m an active member of both the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and Postpartum Support International (PSI).
