TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS
Kassie Leachman

I felt my first calling to birth work during a birth class while pregnant with my first child. I was completely in awe of the beauty and strength of reproduction, pregnancy, and labor, as well as the community borne from it. Then after the empowering births of my two children I knew birth work was the space of which I belonged.

I bring a wealth of knowledge to help families with the new transition of postpartum life, both from working with children and families for 10+ years and from my professional culinary background. My joy is in creating a safe space for families to grow, advocating for them and providing them with the most intentional and compassionate evidence-based care. My purpose is to support and encourage each family’s intuition, to provide calming reassurance in their power, and to help them own their own experience.

I’m here to create and nurture my community, to live a life of continued education and fight for justice within the birth world.

I can’t wait to help you on your journey in whatever form it takes.

Testimonials

We had the absolute best experience with Kassie and truly cannot imagine our birth without her. From the very beginning of pregnancy, she was incredibly supportive and provided a ton of helpful resources, tips, and education that made us feel informed, confident, and comfortable every step of the way. She took the time to talk through options and different scenarios with us so we felt prepared for anything that could happen, which made such a difference going into labor.

Kassie is extremely knowledgeable and always available, and once we were in the hospital, she was truly invaluable. She knew the ins and outs of the hospital and providers and completely helped run the delivery room in the best way possible. She kept labor progressing with thoughtful exercises and position changes, kept me hydrated, and was endlessly encouraging. She also did an amazing job supporting my husband—giving him specific things he could do so he felt involved and empowered throughout the process.

Beyond her skills, Kassie’s presence is what really sets her apart. She is calm, friendly, and inviting—exactly the energy you want in such an intimate and intense moment. Even though we had only met her twice before the birth, she felt like a trusted friend or family member in the room with us.

After birth, Kassie continued to check in, offering postpartum support, answering questions, and making sure we were doing okay. That ongoing care meant so much to us.

We would highly recommend Kassie to anyone looking for the best possible support during their birth experience. She is truly one of a kind, and we are so grateful to have had her by our side.

Kassie was an incredible support to me and I don’t know what I would have done without her! Throughout pregnancy and postpartum Kassie has consistently checked in and is always available to talk. She has a warm, genuine spirit and is very knowledgable about birth, women’s bodies, and the baby’s health. She provided advice that was tailored to our personal desires and convictions, while also sharing what she would recommend based on her own extensive experience. This helped us make important decisions with confidence. During my labor, she created a calm, encouraging, and positive atmosphere. She gave me specific direction on how to help my labor progress but always deferred to how I was feeling and prioritized my preferences. She communicated clearly with my husband and I, and had a great relationship with the hospital doctors and nurses. I could tell that they had a mutual respect for each other’s work and partnered together to make the birth of our first child a truly wonderful experience. Kassie is exactly what I was looking for in my doula – her experience, professionalism, and disposition! Thank you, Kassie!

We feel so lucky to have had Kassie as our doula. She helped calm so much of my anxiety leading up to birth just by being such a steady, reassuring presence and answering all of my questions. There is so much information overload and conflicting advice during pregnancy, and having someone as knowledgeable and experienced as Kassie made everything feel more manageable.

During labor she was incredibly supportive and grounding. She knew exactly how to help in each moment, and because of her guidance my husband was able to be fully present and felt he was able to better to support me.

The resources she provided before and after birth were so helpful. I know Kassie truly cares about her clients and goes above and beyond to make sure you feel prepared and supported. We are so grateful for her and would wholeheartedly recommend her.

-Sarah

Let me start by saying that I never considered myself a “doula person”. But after a very high-risk pregnancy and complicated birth with my first child, it made sense to look into it when I became pregnant with my second. I am overwhelmingly glad I chose Kassie.

The first words that come to mind when I think about Kassie are non-judgmental, adaptable, and knowledgeable. I had strong opinions about pain management and breast feeding (or rather – not breastfeeding). She was boldly supportive of everything I wanted and validated every feeling. At the same time, she was sure to give me the facts and data behind every piece of the delivery process; she has a wealth of knowledge spanning from the female body, to babies, to medicine. She’s incredibly connected – she intimately knows the system, challenges, and even specific individuals at the hospital and how to interact with them.

I had a slew of pregnancy issues that never fit into one clear diagnosis (cholestasis, sort of HELLP syndrome, sort of fatty liver of pregnancy). I was extremely nervous about carrying and delivering my daughter, and she made me feel empowered, supported, and strong.

I spent three weeks in antepartum prior to delivery to monitor my liver numbers. Kassie went out of her way to come visit me and bring me treats (something she just did out of kindness – not at all part of her package). She checked in constantly and made me feel taken care of.

I went into preterm labor at 32 weeks – Kassie was right there and quickly adapted to meet the demands of the new reality. I immediately felt comfortable with her (amazing how strongly I bonded with someone who was only a stranger weeks ago).

I leverage humor to get through and process traumatic experiences. Kassie was so down with my vibe – playing along with my bad jokes about labor being like a bad millennial clubbing experience (drugs that make you loopy, your girlfriend pulling your hair back as you vomit, gingerale apple juice “cocktails”)…Kassie went all in on the fun and made a scary experience so much lighter. This perfectly demonstrates her ability to adapt to her client – she intuited what I needed in that moment and made sure her approach met me where I was at.

She took incredibly detailed notes about every single event in my labor. In our follow-up session, I felt empowered to hear her walk through each and every moment – also thank goodness for her diligence because I blacked out about 75% of the delivery. She made sure to emphasize moments that she felt I was strong, brave, and bold. She made me feel proud of what I did.

It honestly feels strange to have such an intimate experience with someone and then to part ways. She continues to reach out and check on me and my baby – never out of obligation, but just because she cares.

-Whitney

From the very beginning, Kassie was an absolute gift to our birth experience. She is kind, open-minded, incredibly knowledgeable, and so genuinely warm and friendly that being around her immediately made us feel safe and comfortable. In the months leading up to my due date, Kassie met with us multiple times to truly get to know us and to help us create a birth plan that felt thoughtful, intentional, and deeply aligned with what we wanted.

When our labor didn’t go as planned, Kassie was exactly the advocate we needed. She was calm, steady, and unwavering in making sure that both me and my baby were always the first priority. Even when things were moving quickly and decisions needed to be made in real time, Kassie took the time to explain our options clearly and compassionately, empowering us to make informed choices alongside the hospital care team. Her presence alone brought so much reassurance in what could have been an overwhelming experience.

I truly loved Kassie so much so that I cried saying goodbye to her after my baby was born. I could not have imagined a more perfect person to share in something so personal, vulnerable, and special. Her commitment to her craft and the level of care, intention, and heart she brings to her work are unmatched.

Even after our baby arrived, Kassie continued to show up for us in the weeks that followed, patiently helping us navigate the wild world of newborn life from sleep questions to feeding concerns to all the strange little things that come with a brand-new baby. Knowing she was there made such a difference during those early weeks.

If I’m being honest, I half-jokingly say I want to have another baby just so I can hang out with Kassie again. She really is just the best. We are endlessly grateful for her, and I cannot recommend her highly enough to anyone looking for a doula who will truly care for you and your family with skill, advocacy, and so much heart.
