For 14 years, I’ve stood in the sacred space of birth as a doula, witnessing women’s transformation into mothers. But my journey wasn’t planned; it unfolded through divine synchronicity. When close friends asked me to accompany them during their most vulnerable moments of childbirth, I discovered my purpose: to be the grounding presence women need as they bring forth new life.
As an apprentice healer, childbirth educator, and mother of four, I weave together modern evidence-based practices with the ancient wisdom of our West African ancestors. Every technique I share, every herb I recommend, every ritual I teach or perform honors the unbroken line of knowledge passed through generations of women.
I am a bridge. I am a guide. I am the manifestation of the mothers who came before me. I am the knowledge of my teachers in action.
This is more than birth work. This is ancestral reclamation. This is coming home.

I am an Evidence Based Birth© Instructor, SMC certified doula, Certified Lactation Specialist, 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher in Kemetic and Vinyasa yoga, 100 hr Certified Meditation Teacher and a French Intensive aromatherapy practitioner.
My career with children and families started at my daughter’s preschool. I did a cooking demo with the preschoolers one day, and fell in love with teaching. Working as an assistant teacher at my daughter’s preschool, I began to take early childhood education classes at Olive Harvey College, a City College of Chicago school. Within 2 years, I received my certificate in early childhood education. After 6 years in daycares, I became a governess. In this intimate setting, my curiosity about how children develop started to grow. I enrolled at Erikson Institute in the Master of Child Development program. It was during this time, that I began reflecting on my birth experience, and that of other Black women I knew. Speaking to a Fiskiste midwife friend, I enrolled in Shafia Monroe Consulting doula training. The first 2 years becoming a doula, I volunteered with Chicago Volunteer Doulas as a monthly on call doula.

Postpartum Doula
I became passionate about birth work when I attended a close friend’s home birth while completing my DONA Birth Doula Training. I then became inspired to support families in the postpartum period when I gave birth to my own son, who is now a 2-year-old breastfed toddler.
I have been a birth worker for 4 years now, serving predominantly black and brown, and spanish-speaking families in their postpartum journey.
I have also completed training in pregnancy and postpartum herbs and nutrition in Southern (African-American) tradition. As a traditional birth worker, my values are rooted in community support, decolonizing birth, reproductive and social justice, and the reclamation of my ancestral traditions and wisdom of my Mexican lineage.
My work is anchored in gentle nurturing, spirituality, and providing traditional postpartum care through nutritional and herbal support. In my free time, I love to spend time outdoors, hiking, going on walks with my son, reading, cooking new recipes, and tending to my spiritual practices.

Birth & Postpartum Doula
As a mother of two, I personally understand the deep transformation that happens when bringing new life into the world. My own journey into motherhood ignited a passion for holistic wellness and a calling to walk alongside other families through every stage of the childbirth experience honoring the mind, body, and spirit.
I’m certified in Yoga Nidra, trained in herbal healing, colon hydrotherapy, and experienced in postpartum care, including yoni steaming, allowing me to offer a range of tools that support each family’s unique journey.
Whether I’m offering physical support during labor, emotional grounding in postpartum, or empowering education along the way, my goal is to help you feel confident, centered, and deeply cared for. Every birthing experience is sacred, and I approach each one with intention, presence, and compassion.
My role isn’t just to assist, but to co-create a nurturing space where you feel safe, seen, and honored as you step into parenthood. In my spare time, you’ll often find me working on the farm, tending to the land, and teaching others how to grow their own food and herbs. It brings me joy to reconnect people with the healing power of nature and the importance of nourishing our bodies from the ground up. For me, wellness is a way of life and I’m grateful to share that with every family I serve.

Birth & Postpartum Doula
Becoming a doula felt right because I love helping families through life-changing moments. I admire the strength of childbirth and understand its challenges. I provide caring, empowering support for all birth types at home, hospital, or cesarean and extend my care into the postpartum period to nurture recovery and confidence. My goal is to support families through the transition to parenthood, celebrating every unique birth story and the miracles of life.
Jessica Morrissette
Birth & Postpartum Doula
Becoming a doula was a calling rooted in my deep desire to support and uplift families during one of the most transformative times in their lives. I’ve had the honor of working with young mothers who needed not just a doula, but a village; a reminder that they are not alone.
My background as a licensed massage therapist and certified yoga teacher has given me tools to help families feel grounded, nurtured, and empowered in their bodies. I bring a passionate, attentive, intuitive, and empathetic presence to every birth and postpartum experience.
Each family I serve teaches me something new about strength, vulnerability, and connection. Outside of birth work, I love to dance, as it’s how I reconnect with joy and flow.
Supporting families is my passion, and I’m grateful to walk alongside them in such sacred moments. Above all, I am the proud mother of Cheyenne-Carrie Morrissette, who inspires my journey every day.

Birth & Postpartum Doula
My doula work flows from a deep wellspring within me, a harmonious blend of my scientific understanding and a profound reverence for the body’s innate wisdom. Holding a B.S. in Biology and Physiology, alongside a M.S. in Environmental Policy and Leadership, and enriched by my own home birth journey, I bring a unique perspective to supporting birthing families.
I see my role as a gentle guide, thoughtfully weaving together evidence-based knowledge with a heartfelt trust in the body’s natural rhythms. My love for anatomy, the nurturing power of herbal remedies, and a holistic approach to well-being truly ignite my spirit and fuel my passion for this work. Nurturing my child through homeschooling, embracing wholesome living, and continually exploring holistic and natural practices like prenatal yoga and breath-work, deepen my appreciation for the beautiful interconnectedness of mind and body during birth and beyond.
At the heart of my work is a profound belief in the inherent strength and resilience of every birthing person, and I am wholeheartedly committed to fostering feelings of support, informed empowerment, and gentle care throughout their unique journey.
Whether offering comfort during tender moments, sharing empowering knowledge through childbirth education, or simply holding space with a calm and loving presence, I am honored to witness and support these sacred, transformative experiences for families.
My birth education and trainings, including my CAPPA Childbirth Educator training, MILK Maternity Postpartum & Nutrition Doula certification, Ancient Indigenous Birth Doula training, and Herbal Medicine for the Soul training to name a few allows me to offer comprehensive and deeply compassionate care.
My wife being pregnant was a very exciting time for me, but I was also worried about the challenges that lay ahead, with choosing to go for a natural birth, ideally with minimal medical interaction and in a relaxed setting. [Zetanefert] was perfect for us and she clicked with my wife right away. Throughout my wife’s pregancy, she was a calming factor in our lives, someone who reassured my wife through her own knowledge, and experience.
