Maternal Mental Health & Professional Burnout Specialist
(Licensed in Illinois, Florida, Vermont, & Wisconsin)

Are you the one everyone counts on?

The capable one. The responsible one. The one who “has it together.”

And yet lately, you feel exhausted. Overextended. Maybe even a little lost.

You don’t have to keep carrying it all alone.

I work with high-responsibility adults — professionals, parents, caregivers, helpers — who are navigating burnout, chronic stress, trauma, and major life transitions. Many of my clients are high-functioning and deeply capable. They’re not falling apart… they’re just tired of holding everything together without space to breathe.

I also specialize in maternal mental health, supporting individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, and the identity shifts that come with becoming (or being) a parent. Whether you’re adjusting to a new chapter, processing old wounds, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the weight of daily life, therapy can be a place to slow down and recalibrate.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in both insight and practical skill-building. I integrate DBT, CBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed care, and mindfulness-based strategies so that therapy feels supportive and effective — not overwhelming or one-size-fits-all.

As a Registered Yoga Teacher, I’m especially attuned to the connection between mind and body. When it’s helpful, we incorporate nervous system awareness and grounding tools so you can feel steadier not just emotionally, but physically as well.

Before founding Bluebird Counseling Services, I worked extensively with children and adolescents with Autism and developmental differences, as well as their families. That experience continues to shape my understanding of emotional regulation, family dynamics, and the invisible labor so many caregivers carry.

In our work together, you can expect honesty, warmth, and moments of lightness alongside the deeper work. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of growth — when you feel truly seen and supported, meaningful change becomes possible.

Outside of the therapy room, I find grounding through yoga, baking sourdough, reading, strong coffee (both making and drinking), and spending time with my family and dog. I also teach yoga locally, blending mindfulness and movement as another pathway toward balance.

If you’re ready to feel more grounded, less overwhelmed, and more connected to yourself again, I would be honored to walk alongside you.

Relationship & Transition Specialist

Are you feeling overwhelmed by school, friendships, or family changes Maybe you’re heading into college and unsure of who you’re becoming. Maybe you’re navigating divorce, co-parenting, or trying to reconnect in your relationship after a difficult season.

Life transitions can feel messy and disorienting — even when you’re doing your best to hold it together. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

I specialize in working with teens, college students, young mothers, and couples navigating relationship shifts and major life transitions. Many of my clients are strong and capable, but they’re feeling emotionally stretched, uncertain, or disconnected — from themselves or from each other.

Together, we focus on rebuilding stability, strengthening communication, and helping you feel more grounded and confident in your next chapter.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and down-to-earth. Therapy with me feels like talking to someone who genuinely understands — while also helping you develop practical tools that create real change. I integrate CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based strategies to support emotional regulation, boundary-setting, and resilience.

For couples, I draw from the Gottman Method (Level 1 trained), a research-based approach that helps partners improve communication, manage conflict more effectively, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection. Whether you’re working through tension, adjusting to parenting, or deciding how to move forward together, we create a structured and supportive space to navigate it.

I have a special interest in:

  • Middle school, high school, and college transitions
  • Divorce recovery and co-parenting adjustments
  • Young mothers navigating identity shifts
  • Social and friendship conflict
  • Couples seeking stronger communication and reconnection

As a divorced mom of two daughters, I understand firsthand the courage it takes to rebuild your life after major change. That experience shapes how I show up in the therapy room — with empathy, honesty, humor, and a belief that healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy. Sometimes growth looks like clearer boundaries. Sometimes it looks like laughter. Often, it looks like both.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in education and community support roles, which strengthened my ability to meet teens and families where they are — both practically and emotionally.

Outside of sessions, you’ll likely find me at a live comedy show, listening to country music, or playing board and card games with my girls. I believe in naps, finding joy in small moments, and making space for both growth and grace.

If you’re ready to feel less overwhelmed, more steady, and more confident navigating your next chapter — whether individually or in your relationship — I’d love to support you.

Anna Haveman, Therapist

MSW, LSW
Anxiety, Life Transitions & Cultural Identity Specialist
Are you holding a lot for everyone else — while quietly feeling overwhelmed yourself?

The dependable one. The thoughtful one. The one who shows up, keeps going, and carries more than most people realize.

And yet lately, you feel stretched thin. Anxious. Like there’s no real space to slow down.

You don’t have to keep doing it all on your own.

I work with adults, adolescents, and caregivers navigating anxiety, life transitions, and questions around identity, relationships, and cultural experience. Many of my clients are deeply responsible and caring individuals who are used to holding a lot — for their families, their work, and their communities — but are ready for a space where they can finally be supported, too.

My clinical background includes working with immigrant and refugee communities in Chicago, as well as experience as a psychiatric social worker in a hospital setting. This has shaped my understanding of crisis, emotional overwhelm, and the often-overlooked challenges that come with rebuilding stability after difficult periods. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals transitioning from higher levels of care, helping them reconnect with themselves and create a steadier, more sustainable sense of daily life.

I also have a strong passion for working with adolescents. The teenage years can feel intense and confusing, and I enjoy helping teens better understand their emotions while building practical tools for navigating stress, relationships, and self-esteem. I often incorporate DBT skills to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and more effective communication.

As a mother of three, I deeply understand the emotional and physical demands of parenting. I especially enjoy supporting new and postpartum mothers as they navigate identity shifts, overwhelm, and the complexities of this season of life. Together, we create space for both the challenges and the growth that come with it.

My approach is steady, collaborative, and grounded in both insight and practical support. I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), and I also integrate CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based strategies. Therapy isn’t just about understanding your patterns — it’s about helping you feel more equipped to respond to them in real, sustainable ways.

Mindfulness is an important part of my work. Rather than rushing to fix or change what you’re feeling, we focus on slowing down and noticing what’s happening in the present moment. Over time, this can help you build a different relationship with your thoughts, emotions, and stress — one that feels more grounded and less overwhelming.

In our work together, you can expect warmth, honesty, and a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. Therapy can become a place where things start to feel clearer, steadier, and more manageable.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my husband, three children and our dog, cooking Indian food, walking, and traveling. I value connection, culture, and the small moments that help us feel more like ourselves.

If you’re ready to slow down, feel supported, and reconnect with yourself, I would be honored to work with you.
