MORE ABOUT US
Welcome to Moon Hill Acupuncture!

Moon Hill Acupuncture is a Traditional Eastern Medicinal practice focused on gynecology, pregnancy & postpartum health, as well as on empowering patients to improve their quality of daily life.

Acupuncture is used to treat many physical and emotional symptoms, including pain, digestive disruptions, insomnia, mood variations, menstrual irregularities, hormonal imbalances, etc.

Ashlie Martin is a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.). She uses a gentle acupuncture approach with her patients, as well as other modalities in the Traditional Eastern Medical tradition to ensure improvements during her treatments. These other modalities may include gua sha, moxibustion, heat therapy, cupping, tui na, magnets, dietary advice, nutraceutical recommendations, and traditional herbal formulas, depending on the needs of the patient at the time.

Birth Preparation & Recovery Package

Towards the end of one’s pregnancy, acupuncture can be a great resource to help get the body ready for the immense work of labor. The less stagnation and discomfort you are feeling in those last weeks, the better your body will adapt to the changes during labor and birth. The same goes for immediately after giving birth. Postpartum support in healing and adapting to your new world of motherhood is greatly accentuated by balancing acupuncture treatments.

This package includes:

  • 3 prenatal treatments, including a new patient treatment and one for labor support, ideally used in the last 4-6 weeks prior to birth.
  • 1 postpartum treatment, which can be scheduled in the comfort of your own home within the first 4-6 weeks after birth.
  • 1 postpartum ear seed kit, valued at $24.99
  • A small goody bag of random postpartum helpful items.

$400 (10% discount)

In-Home Pregnancy/Postpartum Treatment

If you find yourself on bed rest during your pregnancy, but would still like to receive acupuncture to relieve the common discomforts of the last trimester, and to prepare your body for the task of labor, I can come to you. After birth, I encourage my patients to heal and recover in their own home during the traditional “laying in period”. I want to help you make this a comforting time while you’re learning about your new little one. I bring my supplies to your home for an acupuncture treatment in the comfort of your own bed (or couch). These treatments can promote postpartum healing, successful breastfeeding, and emotional support. In-home treatments are available to those living within a reasonable distance of my office in Chicago.

Testimonials

“I have known Ashlie for almost 4 years and have worked with her on and off during that time. I originally sought out acupuncture when western doctors were perplexed by my symptoms and out of ways to support my body. Ashlie has helped me understand my body and it’s challenges in a whole new way and she has assisted me in getting back to a place of good health more than once. I also worked with Ashlie throughout two pregnancies and postpartum periods. Ashlie is very generous with her time and she always goes above and beyond to provide support, guidance and thoughtful care. I cannot recommend Ashlie enough!”
~ Nicole

“I first came to Ashlie Martin for acupuncture in the last trimester of my pregnancy and I was very uncomfortable. I had indigestion and heartburn quite a bit and I was not sleeping well. Ashlie was attentive to my needs and sensitive to the struggles that come with pregnancy. She helped me understand what was happening in my body and why I was having a hard time with certain symptoms. She utilized acupuncture to relieve my symptoms and made my last few weeks of pregnancy more comfortable.”
~ Carrie H.

Ashlie was wonderful to work with. I was referred to her when I got late notice that my baby was breech, and I was hopeful that some acupuncture might help the baby flip. Unfortunately, the baby didn’t flip, but Ashlie was wonderful to work with. She took a thorough history and worked to address additional issues in my pregnancy like SI Joint pain, poor sleep, etc. She also answered loads of my questions about eastern medicine generally. Ashlie checked in after my baby was born to see how I was doing and offered to refer me to a different practitioner to help address a potential tongue tie in my son. Ashlie is thoughtful and caring, and look forward to using her again for any acupuncture needs. I can’t recommend her enough, especially to any pregnant ladies needing some additional support.

I met Ashlie late in my third trimester through the wonderful Sweet Pea’s Studio. From the moment I walked in the door, her warmth and confidence put me at ease and I knew that both me (and my baby) were in good hands. I purchased a maternity package, which included visits while pregnancy and after delivery. Ashlie was able to relieve many of my pregnancy aches and pains and assist with relaxation in my final weeks prior to delivery. Her treatment also included acupuncture to help aid natural induction (I went into labor the same evening!). During labor, she was available to offer guidance to my doula so that she could focus on pressure points to assist with labor and coping with pain. Afterward, we did a home visit and she focused on healing (especially of the uterus), relaxation and nursing. I’m fairly new to acupuncture and was skeptical at first, but Ashlie is incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything very thoroughly. I’m so grateful to have met her and to have benefited from her skills (and innate kindness and grace).

Ashlie was recommended to me by another accupuncturist because she specalistizes in treating pregnant women. I had a difficult pregnancy due to some unexpected life stressors as well as some unexpected health concerns. I was looking for someone to help me relax and reset my nervous system: Ashlie did so much more than that. Week by week she assessed my symptoms and how I was feeling physically and emotionally. She helped me navigate what I was experiencing, minimize symptoms, and maintain as much balance as possible during an incredibly difficult time for me. When it became too much for me to go to her office she saw me in the airbnb I was living in and then in my home. She fit me in short notice when something unexpected came up and was flexible with her schedule when I did not need treatment. She made house calls to drop herbs. She was extremely generous with her time. She answered phone calls and texts and reached out on her own when needed to make sure I was ok. She has an expansive knowledge base about both accupuncture and pregnancy and always had an explanation for what I was going through as well as a plan for how to navigate it. I credit her for helping me stay pregnant and healthy to full term and recover from a difficult time post partum. It is obvious that she truely enjoys her work and cares about her clients. I highly recommend Ashlie if you are trying to get pregnant, are currently pregnant, or if you are having a hard time post partum.
