MORE ABOUT US
Fertility

The treatment of infertility with acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) dates back 2,000 years. These ancient, time-tested techniques improve fertility rates and support a woman’s whole body, unlocking unlimited potential for health, healing and childbearing.

Studies reported by The American Pregnancy Association suggest that the most effective fertility treatments involve a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and traditional medical interventions. However, conception does sometimes occur without traditional medical interventions when acupuncture and herbal medicines are used alone.

Researchers from Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York reviewed recent studies and concluded that acupuncture helps to:

  • Increase blood flow to the uterus, which improves the chances of an ovum implanting on the uterine wall.
  • Reduce anxiety and stress. The hormones that are secreted during stressful situations can significantly decrease fertility.
  • Normalize hormone and endocrine systems that regulate ovulation, especially in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome.
  • Positively affect the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, which plays a key role in fertility.
  • Regulate menstrual cycle.

TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS
About me

After insomnia started impacting my work and personal life in 2011, I began a search to find a solution other than prescription medication. At the insistence of a very persistent (at times annoyingly so) friend, I tried acupuncture. I thought there was no way that someone sticking needles in me would help.

After my first session, I was able to fall asleep more easily, but still had difficulty staying asleep. After the second session, I could sleep through the night without any medication!  I experienced several other “side effects” from the acupuncture including mental clarity, less stress, more energy, and an improvement in a digestive issue that had plagued me since high school. After a few months of weekly sessions, my acupuncturist had corrected my irregular menstrual cycle – another issue that had plagued me since high school (and which my general practitioner had “fixed” by putting me on birth control).

Needless to say, I was hooked and decided to go to school and become an acupuncturist myself. I recently founded Northshore Acupuncture Center to help others feel better and live better.

My Approach

My first priority is getting to know you. Only then can I provide personalized treatments to help your body heal itself. I specialize in treating insomnia, anxiety, knee pain, and stress-related conditions.

Patients describe my style as approachable, caring, and compassionate. I carefully listen to and build a strong relationship with my patients to develop a detailed understanding of each patient’s overall health and unique needs. From this, I develos a comprehensive personalized treatment plan to address not only the patient’s unique pattern of symptoms, but also the root cause of the condition.  I help my patients take an active role in their own health by counseling them on food properties according to Chinese Medicine, exercise, meditation, effective sleep habits, essential oils, and other lifestyle changes. In this way, effective and lasting results are achieved.

I know what it’s like to be told, ‘This is as good as it’s going to get,’ when that’s just not good enough. My promise to you is that I will never give up on you. As long as you are actively working on your own healing journey, there is always the possibility for improvement and I will be working as hard as I can to get you where you need to be.  Chinese medicine and essential oils can and do work wonders, and are an important part of any self-care or wellness plan, but they are not always the only treatments you might need.  We are blessed in our area to have some top notch medical providers.  If I am not the one to get you to your goal, I will do my best to find the right care for you, even if it’s not in this office.

In my free time, I enjoy Crossfit, spending time at the beach, reading, dining at Curt’s Cafe and spending time with my teenagers (seriously).

Testimonials

“I came to see Amy in November of 2015 after about 10 or 11 months of trying to get pregnant on my own. I was having difficulties. I have some extenuating hormonal circumstances, and had started doing some other alternative medicine things such as orthobionomy but still wasn’t having a lot of luck.  And so I came to see Amy, mostly for that purpose.  And after actually only one session, I was able to get pregnant, but unfortunately that did end in a miscarriage. But she helped me deal with the symptoms and processing of that. And after a couple more sessions, by late January, I was able to get pregnant again.  Here I am now, almost 6 months along. Things are going very well. So far my pregnancy has also been very (knock on wood)relatively smooth in terms of symptoms. I credit the acupuncture and orthobionomy and other things that I am doing like that  to help with the nausea and things like that as well.” Kate D

I started working with Any when going thru fertility issues. I had never tried acupuncture before and was a bit apprehensive. Amy was incredible at making me feel at ease & explaining each step of the process. Her skill is apparent – I fell asleep (as I was so relaxed!) multiple times. I highly recommend her to anyone considering acupuncture. She will make you feel at ease & you will quickly begin to see results. I’m deeply appreciative to her.
