WHAT WE DO
We offer groups for women experiencing anxiety and/or depression during pregnancy.
BBB’s group model is all about bringing together women who are experiencing symptoms of perinatal depression and/or anxiety. Because our groups are closed—no one joins after the first week—members can develop trust in one another and in the group facilitators.
Our goal is to create a safe and caring space that allows participants to connect with each other and regain their sense of well being.
What Happens in A BBB group?
Group sessions are primarily devoted to sharing experiences that members need support around, as well as to strategies and resources they have discovered that might be useful to others. Sharing is done in an environment of acceptance and understanding. There are tears and laughs of recognition as participants share their struggles. Group facilitators provide support, resources, clinical knowledge, and research data to help members understand what is known about perinatal mood disorders, but our group is directed by the needs of the group.
Core Group [postpartum support]
Our Core Group is for women with symptoms of postpartum depression or anxiety and their babies. A new group begins approximately every 3-4 weeks.
Prenatal Group
Our Prenatal Group is for women who are experiencing emotional distress during pregnancy. Referrals or inquiries should be directed to [email protected] or 847-864-7957.
Loss Group
Beyond the Baby Blues connects women who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss in small peer support groups facilitated by seasoned perinatal social workers. Regardless of the gestational age or the cause of the loss, women find informed compassion and accompaniment in the otherwise isolating grief of disrupted pregnancy for 6-week groups of no more than 6 participants.
Support Group for spanish speakers
Beyond the Baby Blues is excited to announce a pilot support group for Spanish speaking women launching this May!
Please forward inquiries and referrals to Sinane Goulet, LCSW, I/ECMH at (773) 742-6824, or [email protected].
