Rooted Chiropractic - New Mother / New Baby Care

Services in a nutshell

The birth process is powerful and incredible, but it is also an intense experience for moms that causes stress and discomfort that can last well after the baby arrives. Additionally, the birth process requires quite a bit of rotation and pressure to the baby’s head and neck, making it equally important for both mom and baby to seek out chiropractic during the postpartum period.

More about us
New Mother

A woman’s body goes through tremendous changes during pregnancy, from widening hips and additional weight to a postural shift of the center of gravity and hormonal changes. This is in addition to the extra energy needed to grow a baby!  Because of all these components, it takes time and help for mom’s body to reach its full potential again after having the baby. Many women complain of their hip, back, pelvic, or wrist pain actually increasing instead of subsiding postpartum. This is often due to continued presence of the hormone relaxin causing joints to be more pliable, in addition to the more postural changes that occur postpartum. There is likely to be more stress and strain in the upper back and neck when you spend a majority of you time holding your baby, breastfeeding and/or feeding your baby. Chiropractic care will help you stay as comfortable as possible during this time.

Pediatrics

Infants develop their spinal curves as they learn to crawl, walk, and navigate their environment. Regular chiropractic care during the first years of life helps spinal curves develop properly, which aids in proper neurological development. When the nervous system functioning appropriately, it allows your child’s system to develop with ease and create wellness throughout life.  Some of the challenges that chiropractic care can help with include:

  • Arching + Stiffness
  • Colic + Excessive Crying
  • Gas Pains
  • Head Tilt + Torticollis
  • Plagiocephaly
  • Reflux + Spitting Up
  • Tongue + Lip Tie
  • Trouble Latching

TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS
Dr. Lauren Molinaro Shelton

Dr. Lauren was raised in Elmhurst, Illinois and spent most of her young life in her schoolbooks or on the softball field.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2011. After college, she had the opportunity to work at Kohls Department Stores Corporate Office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was during this time that she realized her desire to improve quality of life for others by serving as a healthcare professional. Therefore, Dr. Lauren went back to school to find that perfect healthcare profession for her. As many chiropractors say, “You don’t find chiropractic, it finds you,” and this was just the case!

Finding chiropractic was a happy accident that changed her life forever. Every day, she is amazed by how much the human body can accomplish when it is able to function at its most optimal level without nervous system interference.

Throughout school, Dr. Lauren loved learning about the body and its vast capabilities when we care for it properly. She found her niche working with pregnant mothers and babies. This led her to obtain the Webster’s Certification, which equips her to provide mothers and babies with the highest quality care. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Life University as a Doctor of Chiropractic.

Following school, Dr. Lauren is furthering her training in pediatric and maternal knowledge through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). Dr. Lauren serves as a chiropractor with only the intention to give. In her own words, “my desire for everyone is that you feel and function as well as you can for as long as you can, so you can enjoy the things in life that matter most to you.

Dr. Weston Shelton

Dr. Weston was born and raised on a farm outside of Fort Dodge, Iowa. As a result of growing up in the country, he gained a passion and respect for nature, hard work, and health. That passion brought him to Iowa State University, where he graduated in 2014 with his Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Dr. Weston had always thought that he wanted to be a medical doctor. However, every time he went to his hometown chiropractor, he became more intrigued by chiropractic. After some time, he began to understand that the body has an amazing ability to heal itself without drugs and surgery. This experience inspired Dr. Weston to become a chiropractor himself.

With this new mindset, he moved to Marietta, Georgia to complete his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Life University. Dr. Weston is committed to growing and strengthening families in the community through chiropractic care.

He has a passion for helping children and families function the way they are designed, so families can make memories with one another that last a lifetime. Because of this passion, he began his certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) during school and is completing over 200 hours of additional training in pediatrics and pregnancy. As Dr. Weston likes to say, “There is an innate ability in everyone to reconnect with themselves and the world, and I want to help people make that connection.”
