More about us

Prenatal Education & Support

Healthy pregnancies and births begin when you have total confidence in yourself, your birth partner, and your practitioners. We can help you get there. We provide unbiased education, guidance, and support for pregnant women and their partners. Your birth doula can provide you with support like:

  • Guidance, education, and support around birth preferences: You’ll discover your ideal birth experience with your doula’s expert guidance, education and support.
  • Creating a personalized birth plan: Head into the big day with confidence. Your doula will help you create an informed and personalized plan so you can feel prepared for what’s to come.
  • Hands-on exercises: Ease the physical strain of pregnancy, and prepare your body for birth.
  • Reiki: Easing and decreasing stress and anxiety, reiki brings your body back into energetic alignment using this ancient, non-invasive practice. Read more about Reiki on our blog.
  • Reflexology: Activating pressure points on the feet that correspond to the systems in the body, reflexology is helpful in reducing stress and anxiety and harmonizing your bodily systems. Reflexology can help relieve pregnancy symptoms such as swelling and lack of sleep, help heal pain and stress throughout the body, and promote a healthier well being.
  • Natural remedies and guidelines: Reduce the discomfort of nausea, fatigue, and swelling. Your doula will recommend safe and effective natural treatments for common pregnancy issues.

Continuous Care & Birthing Support

Whether you’re planning to give birth in a hospital or at home, our doulas are with you every step of the way, providing continuous care and support on the big day.

With your birth doula on your team, you’ll gain:

  • Physical and emotional support during early-active labor to help you decide when to go to the hospital.
  • Continuous care during labor, including using your desired comfort measures, e.g. massage, aromatherapy, hot-and-cold therapy, music, guided meditation, Reiki, and Reflexology. We’re here to help you feel as comfortable, safe, and cared for as possible.
  • Help for both you and your partner so you both of you can stay balanced, grounded, and empowered leading up to and throughout labor and delivery. Unlike hospital staff, your doula is there for you and you alone; we have no other mothers to look after when you’re delivering. We provide continuous care and support until your baby is safely in your arms.

TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS

Lara Lasky

Prior to becoming a certified doula and a Certified Holistic Reproductive Practitioner, I had a long career as a public health scientist. Although it was rewarding work, something was missing, and I found myself yearning for more one-on-one connections and the ability to make a difference in the lives of families. Then my sister, an OBGYN and midwife herself, invited me to attend the births of her children, and I was hooked. Nothing compares to the moment new life comes earthside.

My own struggles with fertility, and my less than picture-perfect birth, have led me to believe that everyone should have someone by their side to ride the waves of emotion that come when you are working to bring life into the world.

These experiences led me on my new path.

As a new birth doula, I often stayed connected to the families I had helped during the birthing process, calling to check in and see how they were doing. This is when I discovered that new families need just as much support after the baby comes home. This is why I also offer postpartum doula services. With families living further apart, and in our busy modern lives, new families find that a little extra support is exactly what they need to get through those first weeks and months of their new baby’s life.

It is my great joy to work with families throughout their journeys into parenthood and beyond. Regardless of where the journey takes you, I am here to walk along the path with you.
