Moving throughout labor: Telemetry monitoring allows you to get up and move during labor.
Eating and drinking during labor is allowed during uncomplicated labor, depending on how you’re feeling.
If you need or decide you want an epidural, dedicated anesthesiologists are available in the birth center 24/7.
Advocate Lutheran General Hospital has a liberal visiting policy. You decide who your family and support circle should be – as many people as you want. Staff will also help you if you decide you want a more intimate experience, working with you and your partner to ensure that the right people are around you during labor.

C-sections: Cesarean births take place in one of the birthing center’s advanced surgical suites. One support person may be present as long as you are awake for the delivery.
Family-centered c-sections: Your partner can be present during a C-section and your baby will be placed on your chest skin-to-skin immediately after birth. A see-through drape is available on request.
